When characters have kids that usually seems to be the time I lose interest too. Unless it's a really interesting family dynamic, usually it's just because they settled down and they don't do interesting things anymore.

I guess it's that way in real life. People always say once you get married and have kids you can't have fun on your own anymore.

Then "people" don't know what they are talking about. I've been a parent nearly 27 years and have managed just fine having fun on my own all that time.
