I just don't like when a fic gives characters kids and turns them into Mary Sue parents, domestic god/goddesses and all saccharine goodness. When often, the characters would be awful parents. Or at least not perfect ones.

Like Moffat did with River Song. She's deeeeaaaaad, but it's okay sssshhh since she's finally settled down with kids and flowy feminine white dresses!

I get really pissed if a fic doesn't warn for kids and SURPRISE THERE ARE CHILDREN

Huh, I think that may be exactly the issue I have with most parent fic. I don't find children interesting in and of themselves, and so many people seem to treat them as shorthand for a good, lasting relationship or as the endgame goal for a happily ever after.

To me it seems that a lot of ships really shouldn't be having kids, either because their lifestyles are not conductive to raising them (yanno, if they’re constantly in danger or frequently without food and/or shelter by choice) or because they themselves would make terrible parents.
