Napping

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
How can I keep myself from napping? So tired but if I nap I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Power nap. Set a timer for 15-20 minutes and don't sleep for more than that. In addition to that, make sure you're getting enough sleep at night. During the day, well balanced meals (in case it's a blood sugar issue), not too much caffeine, moderate exercise, etc.

I have insomnia whether I nap or not, so I just go ahead and sleep if I really need to. Better to get some sleep, even if it is during the day, then no sleep at all. Your body is telling you what it needs. If you are tired, you should sleep if you can.

If you're really tired, then nap. Your body needs that sleep.

From tomorrow, get out into daylight first thing in the morning - bright sunshine is best. This will re-set your body clock. Gentle exercise, like going for a walk, will help too.

No caffeine after breakfast. Caffeine stays in the body for 24 hours, so after a eek, no caffeine at all. (It's hell coming off it, but it gets better.)

If none of that works, try "The Sleep Solution" by Ball and Hough. An immensely useful three-week workbook.

And if that doesn't work, get thee to a sleep specialist, if you can! Sleep disorders are easily diagnosed, if you don't mind having your hair full of goo, and most conditions are easily treated.
