No, he's ugly no matter what his haircut. He has an incredibly awful wide frog mouth. Lots of people liked him in Torchwood, but I hated him. Mostly because of Tosh having to have a crush on him, though, plus the comedy date rape, plus the sense of entitlement, not because of how he looked. Ianto is just as ugly and I liked him.

Burn Gorman in Torchwood was pretty funny looking, I agree. Sort of a stretched face set in weird lines. The unpleasant character added to that. (Still liked him, rapey fucker and all.)

Burn Gorman is a beautiful man. Then again, I'm really into, like, facial proportions that deviate from the standard for 'handsome', so... But he has plenty of fans who consider him attractive, even though the character of Hermann is not meant to be.

(personally I like that they're both supposed to be awkward nerds who would not be considered hot in-universe)

It's easily the most unflattering look Burn Gorman's worn for a role, but you're hardly alone in finding Hermann attractive, OP.
