'Limited edition' food products

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-10-20 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
What are some limited edition products that you've tried and loved? (An example being all the pumpkin spice stuff on shelves right now.) Feel free to tell us which ones you hated as well.

Red Velvet Poptarts are a love love love.

I also love all the special edition oreos. I regret not trying the smore-os before they were gone.)

Can't think of anything I particularly hate at the moment.

I'm not a massive fan of red velvet, but I have tried a few red velvet products I didn't totally hate.

...Can't remember which ones atm, but I do like poptarts and think they have some fun flavors. I can see how it might work.

I found a limited edition special flavor of something I don't care for today. Cookies and Creme pocky. Eghhhh I'll stick with chocolate or strawberry next time.

Vanilla coke, what the eff was that? Why was it a thing? IT WAS HORRIBLE.

White Terry's Chocolate Oranges that they do for Christmas are pretty nice though, if eventually sickly for me.

Oh and one that's more local: a cafe in my town centre does absolutely delicious mint hot chocolates during the winter, they are soooooo goooooooooooood(with little bitty marshmallows... I need to find an excuse to go get one soon).

Nooooooo vanilla coke is the best!! They still have it, but you have to search for it.

It makes the best rum and cokes and also I use it when I bake jack and coke or rum and coke brownies.

White Terry's Chocolate Oranges

Somehow I've never tried this, yet I've always wanted to. Maybe this Christmas!

Mint hot chocolate sounds right up my alley, though.

When Starbucks did a holiday special peppermint hot chocolate years ago, I fell in love with it and order it now throughout the year.

I absolutely love mint m&m's at Christmas time and we stock up on them to last through the winter.

I HATED the pumpkin spice latte m&ms. Don't do it. Big mistake!

Woodchuck makes seasonal cider flavors and I liked their maple vanilla one for winter (tasted like a pancake) and their summer blueberry one.

My favorite (this season) is probably Apple Cinnamon Crunch Special K. It is delicious and I wish it was sold year round; I could eat this every day.

As far as pumpkin spice goes I have liked Thomas' English Muffins (which taste vaguely like pumpkin, but is good enough for me), Frosted Mini Wheats (which taste much more like pumpkin when you eat them dry; add milk and they're still good but don't taste remotely like their namesake), and Pumpkin Pie Poptarts (yes, I know how unhealthy they are. Haven't had these this year, but I had them last year and they might be the best Poptarts ever. Again, they don't taste overwhelmingly of pumpkin, but they are super tasty and actually taste of pie).

Can't remember what kind of pumpkin yogurt I tried last year, but that shit was rank. RANK.

I am considering some pumpkin coffee creamer, but feel like that might be a poor decision.

I'm also looking forward to all the mint products that come around Christmas time.

Several of the Blue Bell flavors. Particularly Mint Cookies and Cream and Blueberry Cheesecake.

In Canada mint Oreos are seasonal (actually, I never even saw them at all until last week), and wow, they're really good. In fact they almost instantly upstaged regular Oreos for me.

A while ago, I got some dark chocolate orange gelato at the health food store, but I've never seen it since, and I suspect it was seasonal. And it was so good.

Not limited edition exactly, but I loved Orbitz. And Crystal Pepsi is one of the only sodas I actually liked. :(

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/09/pringles-pumpkin-pie-spice_n_1952104.html Okay, these sound absolutely disgusting. Especially the peppermint. God, why.

...Would any of you try these? (If someone bought them for me...I would, and regret it, but ew.)

Trader Joe's (awesome, small grocery store chain in the southwestern u.s.) did a seasonal cranberry cereal bar last year that was so good that I considered buying a palette of them, which is something I'd never, ever considered before. They do a lot of seasonal stuff that's pretty good, like peppermint marshmallows and special Xmas cookies that I love, too.

I, for one, despise all things pumpkin spice, but I'm glad that others enjoy it.

I know I'm in the minority but I really liked Holiday Pepsi.

I also liked Coke Blak (which I don't think was actually limited edition, just didn't last very long).

Doritos' Mr. Dragon's Fire Chips - basically wasabi flavored doritos. Sucks they were VERY limited edition. IMO they were amazing.

Also Salsa Verde Doritos. I know they have them in some places but not over here.

And when Ocean Spray made candy. God those were good.

Fiber One Salted Caramel squares/brownie were good too, Target had them for a while.

As for seasonal, in the summer months, Cook-Out offers a watermelon shake. Sounds weird but it is refreshingly cold and sweet!

I don't remember hating anything but the pumpkin spice is definitely overdone. As is any season flavor (peppermint, apple, eggnog, gingerbread) usually.

Back in 1999 or so, Revlon had a limited edition lipstick called "Lotus Blossom", that was a sheer pinky-orange red, and was the absolute perfect shade for me. I could even use it as a blush. It made me look amazing! I am on my last tube of it at the moment (I stocked up when it was still on the shelves, and yes, I am using 15-year-old lipstick, but it still smells and looks good so hooray for chemicals I guess), and I will be exceedingly sad when I finally get the last bit out of the tube.

I've never had pumpkin spice. It sounds nice.

Chunky cherry ripe had the perfect ratio of chocolate, cherry and coconut. BRING IT BACK

I love pumpkin spice lattes, judgers to the left.

I also love peppermint stuff too! One of my favorite aspects of the winter holidays.
