Ya know what, being that insecure that you have that kind of bullshit external excuse means you have some growing up to do and you still won't be happy with yourself if you do lose weight.

Just do what you want, whether that's lose weight, dye your hair, or not, whatever, and fuck the haters.

It's not an "excuse" though. It sounds like the reason OP wants purple hair is because she wants to be like this cool, beautiful character who has purple hair. But OP is smart enough to realize that just having purple hair is not going to make her like this cool, beautiful character. (I know that feel, OP.)

If just being exactly as you are, but with purple hair, is something you think you'd enjoy, OP, then I definitely think you should go for it. But if your desire for change goes deeper than that, I understand, and I think it's good you realize that about yourself.

Sure sounds like an excuse to me.

She'll be beautiful if she believes she is, weight loss or not. But she hasn't figured that out yet. (She won't be a character regardless because the character *isn't real*.)

Get purple hair, OP. Decide you're worth it and decide you want to love yourself the way you are. The weight loss will happen for the right reasons if you're ready.

Just because doesn't want to be accidentally associated with a culture she despises she is now completely insecure?

Not dyeing your hair a colour you want because you're so paranoid people will go "ahh yes one of those". Worried you're so ugly you'll do a fictional character a "disservice"? Thinking you're not good enough as you are? Smells like insecurity to me, OP.

OP never stated she finds herself ugly, only that she aspires to be as beautiful as the character she loves. Just because she wants to become prettier it doesn't mean she is wallowing in insecurity right now.

And what's wrong with not wanting to project an image associated with a certain subculture? So it's totally okay to dye your hair purple to look like a fictional character, but the moment you want to lose weight to not look like someone else you are suddenly insecure to the core?

(I'm not OP, btw)
