it's basically just attention-seeking children wanting to feel special like the rest of tumblr. in this case choosing to be a popular fictional character not only makes you special but it also comes with a free fanbase.

and if there are more than one claiming to be fictional character [X], they post on their blogs about how they don't interact with other [X]-kins. it's stupid bs but it's mostly harmless.

the ones i worry about are the fickins who are soulbonded to insane murderous villain-type characters. i've indirectly encountered someone who thought they were madara uchiha (a character from the naruto manga whose shtick was to destroy the entire world and recreate reality based on his own personal fantasy.) those are the ones to watch out for.
