I follow a girl who is fickin (always a little funny to me since 'ficken' is the German word for 'fucking') with several anime characters on my dash and it's HILARIOUS (when it's not disturbing).
Like, she says on her "Please tag all these things for me" page that if she follows you, you're not allowed to call this or that character "your son/husband/hamster/you get the drill" and she will do the same for you.
And she AGONIZES about who her main kin is as if that's super important. She's 20. Like???
(My face when I finally figured out wtf she meant with "kintype" must have been really funny. In the beginning I thought it was just another new way of calling someone "my son")

Basically this is my "At least I'm not as dumb as..."-person. Very useful tbh.

Looking at the tumblr tag makes it seem like fic kin is just shorthand for fiction kin, which is basically otherkin but instead of being a wolf you're a fictional character. Wasn't there a different name for that? something similar to soul bonding?

Plain old otherkin do this too though. Just the other day I had someone say one of my ships was skeevy because even though they have only a three year age difference in canon, this fictionkin was 'told' by the character that the age gap is actually much larger. Like... what?

it's basically just attention-seeking children wanting to feel special like the rest of tumblr. in this case choosing to be a popular fictional character not only makes you special but it also comes with a free fanbase.

and if there are more than one claiming to be fictional character [X], they post on their blogs about how they don't interact with other [X]-kins. it's stupid bs but it's mostly harmless.

the ones i worry about are the fickins who are soulbonded to insane murderous villain-type characters. i've indirectly encountered someone who thought they were madara uchiha (a character from the naruto manga whose shtick was to destroy the entire world and recreate reality based on his own personal fantasy.) those are the ones to watch out for.

The whole "otherkin" thing sounds so absurd to me in the first place. It's times like this I wish the Internet had a better filter, because back in the day people couldn't validate each other's weird shit so easily.

I have fictional characters in my head, from when I wanted to write comic books. I can understand that. I have weird headcanons. But yeah, it's stuff I made up, or stuff I got from other writers. At least I know that.

I never knew how serious people were about this until I ran into several instances of people saying "if your kin with so-and-so don't follow me" or "if we share the same kin don't follow me".

They get so offended by people who have divergent headcanons and act like because they are kin with certain character that they own them and their opinion is the right one and everyone else is offensive.

I usually have one life-rule, aka "if they are not hurting/harrassing anyone, it's not my business what people enjoy/do with their free time and money" and I usually strictly apply it, scrolling past things I have no interest in or things that irritates me.

But I played Undertale, I liked it, I appreciate the writing and all the characters, and there's a lot of nice and funny fanart and comics on tumblr that I'd like to enjoy.
But going into the tag it's exhausting, I'm finding myself facepalming more and more as the day passes, there's just SO MANY of these fucking retard (yes, I know, bad word) bullshit filling the tag, Jesus Christ these people need help.

I'm still not gonna bother them but FUCK they are annoying
