Urg downton abbey should have ended in season 3. Why am I still watching it?

But on the subject at hand. I think that the shows problem is that it wants to deal with problems of the times so it just bends the characters to do it. So we want to deal with the shitty job market so Thomas has to apply for jobs. Why would he do that? Idk everyone could be dicks for no reason.
