skydiving, bungee jumping, roller coasters. Even for people who don't have vertigo like me, I just don't get why something like that could be enjoyable. Is the feeling of getting sick or of falling really fun for people?

I enjoy rollercoasters. I don't feel sick when I ride them and I do find the sensation of falling fun. It's like jumping into a pool. The enjoyment comes from the adrenaline rush and the sense of speed.

I think for you, it likely only causes stress so that's probably why you don't enjoy it.

I don't mind roller coasters because they are generally very very safe. But more dangerous, adrenaline kick stuff? Nope. My instincts say "don't jump out of planes" for a pretty good reason.

Haha, this :D. My sentiments exactly. Unless there's some serious, life-threatening emergency that gives me no choice but to jump, if I'm up high in or on anything-a plane, a bridge, a building-I have every intention of staying there.

I don't mind rollercoasters, but I absolutely REFUSE to ever go on one that has upside-down loops. I'm just always terrified that it'd be my luck I'd be on a rollercoaster that got stuck on one of those, and that is not an appealing thought to me.

Agreed on roller coasters. I think I like them because I enjoy the "free" feeling of going so fast. Not really any adrenaline reasons, but I can close my eyes and really like the sensation. But when they try to scare you with weird loops, upside downs, and pauses right before the first big fall, I'm pretty much NOPE.

The sensation is rather thrilling at times depending on the ride, yeah. That weird loop your stomach does is scary and exciting all at the same time.

But oh, the pauses before the fall...I was on a log ride once that had a final drop that I could swear was nearly at a sharp 90 degree angle, and I don't think I let go of the bars the whole way down. I felt like I left my actual stomach itself on that ride afterward, LOL.

Not everyone feels sick on rollercoasters anymore than everyone has vertigo.

The falling bit, though - yes. It's that adrenaline rush and the G-force that make them fun. Except it's not really falling, it's moving in different directions and it feels more controlled.

ETA: where's comradesmiler today?

I don't get sick from roller coasters or most fair rides. I have never gotten sea sick or car sick either.

For me it's just a momentary pleasant, and mildly thrilling sensation of being weightless. I'm constantly looking for rides that actually stand a chance of making me ill or terrified, but it almost never happens.

Have you ever been skiing, or sat at the front of a speedboat going decently fast? If not, it makes sense, cause vertigo, but if you have..did you get a feeling like you were actually flying? Cause I do. And roller coasters are like that but faster, higher, more power behind it. I haven't been skydiving or bungee jumping but I assume it's the same (but probably a bit more....falling-y)

I am TERRIFIED of heights, but for what ever reason, I LOVE rollercoasters.

Actually, there may be a reason. I don't have enough to register the ground, so I enjoy the wind and such.
