I watch horror movies because they never scare me. I'm constantly looking for something that might actually do it for me, but it's rarer than anything.

These days I mostly enjoy horror for the specific brand of cheese and silly violence/gore that comes with it. Occasionally I like it for the interesting concepts that come out of it when film makers and script writers get particularly creative with a project and start flipping the tables as to who turns out to be the protagonist.

I also like them because it's a really easy genre for independent film makers to excel at without much of a budget. Most of the really interesting horror is by indie directors just trying out a pet script.
