Spicy food

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-10-24 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you like it, f!s? What's your preferred delivery system?

I love hot sauces like sambal and Valentino, kim chi/gochujang, and I have some incredibly wicked Indian chili powder that I break out for curries.

I could never get behind the death xxxtreme! types of sauces though.

It's fine. I'm not in love with it. It's just fine.

I can't eat anything spicy. I can't stand the taste of too much pepper and strong spices upset my stomach.

Yeah like moderately spicy stuff. I don't mind tearing up a bit but I don't want my mouth on fire. Like, I honestly don't get why people like stuff that is so hot (you can't event taste anything).

I thought I liked spicy food.

Then I realized I like spicy food in Minnesota. Which is also known as, not spicy food.

I hate it. I want a little flavouring, not setting my mouth on fire to the point of being rendered unable to taste what I'm eating. It leaves me with the nagging impression that the food is spoiled and the spices are lavished on it to hide the rot.

Re: Spicy food

(Anonymous) 2015-10-24 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Spicy food is my favorite. I like things spicy enough to make other people cry which is nice because nobody ever asks for my food after trying it once.

I like prawns in chili aioli, but that's about it. Hot sauces can also taste good in moderation, as long as it doesn't feel like my tongue and intestines are burning.

Sometimes. Lately, if it's too spicy, it makes me nauseous. But, I like Tex-Mex, Mexican, Thai and Indian type spiciness, in that order. I'm not too familiar with spice delivery methods, tbh. I definitely don't like death extreme spiciness. No ghost chilies for me.

I like some spicy food. Not sure what you mean by delivery system.

I like Thai red and green curry, and most Burmese curry (there is a Burmese restaurant near my house). I've had peri peri and liked it. I don't like jalapeno peppers and quite a few others though.

I do hate it when people make spicy food into some kind of "how much spiciness can you handle" thing. I'd rather just eat the stuff I do like and not eat the stuff I don't, and not have some person tracking what I eat and telling me I can't eat Burmese curry because it's spicier than jalapeno peppers and if I "can't handle" jalapeno peppers, that I can't eat Burmese curry. I'll eat what I want to.

I tend to feel the hotter the better, but I haven't tried anything outrageous like ghost peppers so I'm sure there are things I couldn't eat.

I really like spicy foods, but that might be because my mom has always cooked spicy dishes. I like stuff swimming in homemade chili sauces.

I'm not good with stuff that's really spicy but I like Mexican, Indian and Thai foods that are spicy, I tend to prefer tasty over heat tbh but if a dish has both that's good too.

moderation is key

(Anonymous) 2015-10-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I like a little black pepper or cayenne. I like mild chilis, like bell pepper. I can tolerate cinnamon in small amounts.

But actually picante food is mostly just annoying.

Anything, as long as it's about medium heat. I want to feel it, but not be in pain. Unfortunately I'm a wuss.

A few weeks ago I made a mistake and ordered my curry hot at a Thai place... it was actually hot for once! It was delicious, though. :)

I usually don't handle spicy food well, I usually have a cup of milk right nearby when I eat anything spicy.

I do love good queso though. But usually when it's nice and creamy as well as being spicy.

I love spicy food, but spicy for flavor as well as heat, not just heat for heats sake (like those extreme sauces you mentioned). I am happy sweating and burning and love Indian, Thai, Mexican, and Scezchuan cuisines. However, as I've gotten older, I've had to be careful as spicy food gives me heartburn, and has triggered my IBS.

I've always been a wuss about heat, but I had this chile rellano at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in New Mexico...it was so spicy I actually started crying, but it tasted so good that I ate the whole thing. Apparently their salsa was just as hot, but I couldn't tell through the chile.

I still think about that chile. I WANT ANOTHER.

I like spicy food that doesn't include chilli.

I like mild curries, mild Mexican, mild, mild, mild. I really was not brought up with much hot spice at all.

I have to be in the mood to eat spicy food, though our dipping sauces (especially the ones we mix at home) are spicy by default.

I loooove wasabi, horseradish, mustard, gochujang, jalapeños (I eat them raw when I'm in the mood), curry (Thai-style red curry and Japanese-style curry are my favorites), and chili flakes (especially with pizza). I can't stand Tabasco sauce though.

My favorite spicy thing to eat is called Dynamite - a type of Filipino street food. It's basically a deep fried spring roll stuffed with a whole chili pepper (can be jalapeño or siling mahaba) and cheese, sometimes with ground beef or pork. Can be eaten on its own or in whatever dipping sauce you want.
