Can you help me find a specific kid's book, please F!S?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-24 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a long, long time ago and I was very young, so it was the 80s, and I used to have this book which was lots of little short stories about fairies. All really nicely illustrated with nice art. It was about how elves and fairies would trick people, and there was one story about a guy who fell asleep on a bridge and saw fairies flying on pieces of straw and he tried it too. And another one about willo the wisps leading kids into marshes. Does anyone remember the book or have an amazon link, I'd love to give a copy to my cousin for her kid.

I'd look for it on here. https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue

They've helped me find so much obscure shit.

Reddit? No offense but I am not looking for porn or ways to spew sexist abuse, just a kid's book.

Did you see PORN anywhere on that page? I know you can write so I assume you can read. Literally two days ago, I posted about a book I read as a kid and wanted to find. Someone found the book for me in about 10 minutes.

Because OBVIOUSLY I would link you to the porn with dogs section of reddit. They are definitely going to be the ones to help you find a children's book.

NAYRT
They obviously don't feel comfortable going to that site, there is no need to insult them for feeling that way. It does have a reputation.

Thank you, and I am sorry I was so short with you before. No, it isn't as slick looking or as realistic looking as that. It was definitely more kiddie looking.

Reddit has a million different subs, some of which are actually pretty awesome. The key is to stay away from the defaults and to know exactly what you are looking for in a sub.

I don't really understand what that means, sorry.

Reddit is basically a small version of the internet. Just like on the itnernet, you stay away from the subreddits (sites) you don't want any part of.

A sub is basically a page of reddit that has a theme. You go to, say the "cats" sub if you want to look at pics of cute cats. Or you go to "trollxchromosomes" if you want to see awesome feminist ladies posting humorous reactions gifs and talking about social issues and stuff that happens in their lives.

It means that avoiding reddit because there's some nasty shit on it makes about as much sense as avoiding the entire internet because there's some nasty shit on it.

Reddit has a deservedly bad rep, but there are plenty of non-sexist, non-porn related parts of reddit, anon. They just don't get a whole lot of attention because they're small and relatively quiet.

Is this it?

http://www.amazon.ca/Illustrated-Encyclopedia-Fairies-Anna-Franklin/dp/1843402408

I'm pretty sure I read it also, but I'm not entirely sure if this is the exact book.

No, it was not an encyclopedia style work it was a storybook. Thanks though. The art was more like the style of that guy who did The Snowman.

Could it possibly be one of Andrew Lang's "Fairy Book" series?

Here's a link to one of them:

No. It didn't look marketed at adults at all, it was a children's book directed at children.
