The Magic Sociopath

(Anonymous) 2015-10-24 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The omniscient sociopath or serial killer who's always able to manipulate people and predict absolutely everything that will happen, including coincidences, ostensibly because he's just that brilliant but really because the writer is on his side.

Examples: Hannibal, Nolan Joker a bit. Light Yagami definitely as the ridiculous powers of prediction part, but at least he gets bitten in the ass by it all in the end.

Yes, so much! I hate those types. It's why I've never finished Silence of the Lambs.

I guess because I love both SotL Hannibal and the TV-show Hannibal so much, they don't annoy me. But all the Hannibal-esque versions of the magical sociopath that came after SotL? You betcha.

To be fair, Light never made any actual mistakes, it was Mikami's fault. The author apparently even was adamant that Light couldn't fail on his own, he still had to do everything perfectly and it was someone else who messed it up for him.
