(Anonymous) 2015-10-26 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)I have an issue with the fact every time Moffat introduces a 'powerful woman' it turns out she's powerless without the direction of a man. Show me the episode where Sherlock was only able to appear to be so smart because he was getting directions from a far more intelligent woman and then we'll talk.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-26 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)First off, episode wasn't written by Moffat; it was Stephen Tompson. It's not just one guy calling the shots. Second, it wasn't a great episode, but that's mostly because hundred-year-old material doesn't always translate well into the modern day. Not every flaw in Sherlock boils down to "Moffat hates women, POCs, and gays."

I've also been a Sherlock fan since I was little (and a Moffat fan - LOVED Press Gang), and I never had a problem with the hundred year old material about Irene. It's the way it's been "modernised" that I find really gross.
