Man, that last part makes me see red. Chloe and Max's relationship, platonic or romantic, is the main focus of the game. The events of the game would not have happened if they didn't care for each other. Max's relationship with Warren, meanwhile, could have been omitted from the game without anything being lost. Even Warren himself isn't strictly necessary to the plot or to Max's characterization. There's no universe where everything Max does for Chloe could be reduced to fanservice just because Max is potentially interested in a guy.

If anything was fanservice, it was the Max/Warren kiss, seeing as all of her journal entries in previous episodes indicated that she saw him as a brother and was worried that she was leading him on.
