Bed, of course, is number one. If you have money to buy furniture, do invest in that mattress and bedframe. Otherwise, you can try to get by with an air mattress for awhile, but you'll likely want a real bed.

A dining table with chairs would be the other big one. For a cheap first table, you could get a card table and folding chairs.

Otherwise, some sort of couch (I recommend a folding futon, so guests could sleep over) and some kind of table/cupboard for your TV. And a desk for your computer (cheap options available at superstores).

I'm assuming, of course, you have appliances? If not, get that fridge first, and a microwave or something if you use that.
