I can empathize, OP. I'm in the same boat with one of my very few OTPs as well.

There's an awesome fic on AO3 that is the only one for the ship. I was surprised to found it.

I ship a few rare oairs but I need at least something to fuel my fascination, a fic or someone to discuss it with. Otherwise it's a background lowkey shipping for me.

Why should you feel bad? If there are *no* fics for your OTP, and you really want to read *something*, doing a find/replace so you have a fic (for your own amusement) isn't a big deal.

You're not pretending you wrote it or trying to post it, so who cares? Enjoy yourself, and stop feeling bad about a totally harmless action.

I've done that before, but only a few times. Sometimes you just read a fic and go "Man, this would be so much better if random chara A were specific chara B instead."

I think I'd like to do that, but...wouldn't that mean I'd have to read the fic first, at which point it'd be ruined?

I always feel like the particulars would bother me. But I have thought about it.

Anon... I'd ask you to tell us, but you'd probably out yourself since you said the pair has only one fic.

So... make another secret and come back later and ask us for fic. I like rarepairs and will take up a fic idea if it intrigues me. I'm sure others feel teh same way. There's no shame in asking for content.
