Most people become fans of things without knowing about the creator. Seriously does anyone make sure to look up every creator of something before they read/watch/play it? Even if you try to, there will inevitably be media you're exposed to without planning it. Or they become fans before anything bad about the creator gets out to people. At that point you can say you wouldn't pay for it again, but if you already own it you can't really take back what you paid, and a lot of people can't just voluntarily get rid of the meaning a thing holds for them.
