Re: What do you think of young people who have already accomplished a lot?

I think, "Good for them!" like I would for anyone who's accomplished something neat. But I also know that it doesn't amount to as much as you might think. I went to school with quite a few really, smart, really accomplished young people. Some had amazing musical talent. 20 years later, we're all living fairly normalish lives. I think there was a study about this, on how child prodigies with high IQs usually end up being intelligent adults, but they don't necessarily all become Noble Prize winners or anything. Their lives peak and then even out and end up pretty much like everyone else's.

There are always exceptions, of course, but there are fewer adult geniuses than there are early-achieving kids. And quite a few of those adult geniuses didn't have promising starts.
