I'm in the US and won't see the new season until January, but I don't mind spoilers and they were all over the place after episode 5 - I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it, but the episode where people reference 'Game of Thrones', 'Walking Dead', and Tarentino when talking about it, that's uneventful?

I'd been expecting something like this to happen for a few episodes now (although admittedly not in such an OTT way) so... meh. Even if this was eventful, it was one scene in 5 episodes. Don't get me wrong, I never expected Downton to be an action filled thriller of a show. But they have this tendency to massively rush interesting plots and endlessly drag out the uninteresting things.
