There's a guy I sit next to in class that I have a little crush on, to sound juvenile. But, he calls me "dude" and asks me about girls in class he thinks might be into him, and talks about people in the class I could potentially date. I think he might see me as one of the guys. Should I just give up on it?

I'm confused. You don't want to screw it up by asking him out because you'll have to see him for the rest of the year, but you're concerned he sees you as just one of the guys?

Dude, shit or get off the pot. Either you like him enough to want to pursue something, or you don't get to be upset that he doesn't like you like that.

If you're not willing to take any risks, then you're not going to accomplish anything. You can't make someone fall in love with you by crushing on them really hard and never saying a word because you're chicken. Quickest way to find out if he's interested is to ask him on a date. Don't ask him to hang like you're friends if you want to be more than friends. Use the word "date".

Or at least flirt with him and see if he responds. If he does, step it up to the next level and ASK HIM ON A GODDAMN DATE. If he doesn't respond, then you'll get to debate on whether or not he's oblivious or not interested. That's another dilemma, but it's what you've got to work with for as long as you're too chicken to ASK HIM ON A GODDAMN DATE.

I dunno, what have you done so far that you need to give up on? Having a crush on someone and suffering in silence is pretty passive. If you like a person, ask them out. If they say no, shrug and smile and acknowledge your disappointment and then try to be the same cool friend you were before. Rejection doesn't have to make it weird, it's in how you handle the rejection.
