Is this part of a fest or something? Can't you just link to the art, and then it won't be visible immediately?
Or if it's on tumblr, can't you just reblog it with thanks instead of posting it together with the fic?

This is what I do. Put an endnote saying Thanks to Username who drew art for this story! LINK. Most people won't click unless you rave about the art.

Thank "everyone" for the art but say you're going to stop posting art along with your fics because they'd take up space and you don't want to leave anyone out.

Yeah, this is probably the nicest way of getting them to stop giving OP art. They run the risk of this person commenting or reblogging their fics with links to the ugly art anyways, but at least then OP wouldn't have to feel obligated to "officially" associate the art with their fic by posting it themselves.

Well, it is Disney. I know they have "gay days" and so far have shown a noble willingness to accept gay peoples' money, but I don't see them doing much in their movies terms of being LBGT friendly.

Hmm...

On the one hand, I can understand wanting something of quality to represent your story, and I could see how getting nothing but the same thing over and over could get tiring. But on the other hand... I just can't dredge up any sympathy for you. But I'm probably coming from a place of envy because in almost 18 years as a fanfic writer, I've never been able to catch even the attention of artists who draw "butt ugly" art.

I... don't get this. If you're just linking it at the bottom, what does it matter? It's not like the image itself is in the post. You sound a little ungrateful to me. Someone is showing genuine appreciation for your work, even if that appreciation isn't up to your standards.

I'm petty enough that I'd be just as annoyed as OP, but also selfish enough that I'd never post the terrible art with my story. At best I'd post a "thanks" in the notes section.

This is exactly the place to vent about this, because, yeah, hard to do anything without hurting some feelings. (But I actually do see some good suggestions from others here, how about that!)

Late reply, but I was away for the weekend.

I've been there before, where I received gift art or art from exchanges that were from artists who really couldn't draw very well. Even if it can be a bit embarrassing, I understand that not everyone in fandom is an amazingly talented artist, and I can respect that the less talented artists still enjoy drawing and wanting to post art for others. When someone draws something for me, I am happy to receive art regardless of quality because I understand that they had good intentions.

As for posting it with your fics, I do understand being embarrassed to show others and have it associated with your fics, but I'm sure there's a way around posting it every time you write. As other commenters said, you can say you're going to stop posting art without specifying that it's because of that particular person.
