No, your instincts are correct.

In fact, I would go so far as to generalize it and say that even on a personal level Alicorn is cool while Eliezer is pretty terrible and... I don't think he's a morally bad person, so when I call him shitty I want to be clear that I am using it in a way that carries no moral weight, but he strikes me as pretty shitty. And a lot of the community around HPMOR patterns itself more after Eliezer unfortunately.

There is a person on Tumblr who runs an AU ask blog for characters from an old Disney film. She has a number of OCs there, too. She has already shown the development ofmany hetero relationships, given one of the canon characters an OC love interest, and even made the pregnancy of one of her OCs into a sort of narrative. (None of the canon
characters were canonically in relationship with anyone.) But whenever someone asks about her characters’ (or the canon characters’) sexual orientation, she always gives very evasive replies (like, “Oh, gay means HAPPY, right?!”), or eventually replied with a
very firm, “Such things are pesonal, we keep it to the bedroom!” (not a direct quote, but pretty close).
Excuse me? Are you saying that when someone is not straight, it’s already NSFW to MENTION it, even if it’s a harmless question about whom you are dating and/or in love with? But it’s perfectly fine to show straigth couples and relationships, and even pregnancy, right? We don’t
keep THAT to the bedroom, huh? Shit like this is why people IRL are blamed of “propagating gayness” when merely replying to their co-worker’s questions like, “Do you have a boyfriend?” This person claims to be bisexual, by the way. It’s her blog, and she can do as she wishes, obviously, but if that’s not a pretty off mixture of hypocrisy and bigotry, then I simply don’t know.

Yeah, sadly the only way around it would be to either not make the 200th episode special or to make it something that exists outside of continuity (kind of like Isaac and Ishmael, if anyone still gets West Wing references).

On the other hand, having it be so lackluster at the start really made Dean's later descent all that much more stark.

TBH, unless that person is actively undergoing therapy for their BPD, it would likely end the same exact way. You can't possibly fill all the emotional needs of a person with untreated BPD, because a person with BPD will switch up on you way too fast for you to keep up and their needs are a bottomless pit.

While I completely understand your being uncomfortable, I don't think you should feel guilty about it. The brain picks up on weird things, and can incorporate that into your dreams in bizarre ways, so it's not like you decided to have that dream. And you acknowledged in your dream, and again while you were awake, that someone had died and that that was a sad thing. Plus, sometimes the first reaction to hearing bad news is not always the most appropriate one.

Short version; Dreams are weird, and all your reactions in dream and out are understandable. I wouldn't stress out too much about this.

Eh... if I remember right, though, they didn't kill them because NOT killing them would result in more fuckery, and therefore they had a duty to kill them for the greater good, but just as a revenge tactic for kickstarting the apocalypse. So it's not really justified.

Why would you feel cheated that this show took time to tell its story?

I like how when it started it was unclear if the show viewed the methods of the afterlife judging as right or wrong. It forced you to think about it yourself. And by the time the show made it clear that the method was wrong you had spent enough time with the characters of the show that you acutally cared about the outcome of their fate.

Not sure why you would view Dangan Ronpa as the better example. That show had been entertaining but its story was hardly subtle and felt much more forced than Death Parade.

And I'm also not sure why every anime with an emotional storyline gets compared to Madoka. The emotional scenes in Death Parade are necessary for the story. They're shown to make it clear that the judging method is completely fucked up and unfair. They were never meant to end in a way that wraps up everything nicely and leaves you with a content feeling of bitter-sweetness. They're supposed to leave you upset.
