Yeah, I guess that is true. I think I'm thinking about it in a biased and unfair way.

At the beginning, I understood why she was upset. I encouraged her. The months upon months of express sadness, anons are mean, delete blog, recreate blog, rinse, repeat might be getting to me.

Imagine how it must be getting to them then. Considering they're actually experience the trolls and you're just hearing about it secondhand.

Why do you get to let it get to you, but it can't get to them?

nayrt, but I don't think it makes you a jerk. You've now considered a different perspective and acknowledged your original reaction might have been incorrect. That's decidedly non-jerk-ish behaviour. :)

ayrt - Yeah, I think maybe it is. Again, I get the frustration, but for you it's starting to build into resentment and a touch of paranoia/"it's her own fault", so now would be a good time to walk away from this. You don't want to be That Fan, you know?

If she is getting anon hate and pressure about the fic(s), then I can understand the erratic behavior. We all would like to think we'd handle such-and-such situation better, but the fact is, we can't know until we've been in that person's shoes.
