NAYRT - Sounds to me like OP's mother still wants to better understand it in a way that also works with her faith. Religion has to do with everything for a lot of people, and her mother may be one of them.

And I'm sure there are resources. A lot of churches are open towards LGBT these days.

religion is hugely important to her. it's a part of our family, a part of our culture. my sister is still Christian, so is my mother. so my mother wants to find ways she can reconcile the two.
