I KINDA remember they thought it was a bad idea for them to stay together because of the whole vampire slayer&vampire/age difference/apocalypse/the chance that neither would ever have a normal life even if they had remained together. I do remember Giles being completely broken about Jenny and being pissed at Buffy because she hid Angel.

I think Willow was okay-ish with the relationship until the whole "Angel is back!", but my memory is quite murky on the issue. But yeah, this calls for a re-watch!

Also I just remembered that scene where Angel admits to stalking Buffy and my reaction to it being "dude, that's creepy".

Heh. :P I could never compare Angel/Buffy (or Spike/Buffy) with Edward/Bella because their issues are completely different. Buffy is much more driven than Bella, and Angel has actual reasons for angsting.

I have memories of a scene where either Buffy or Angel made some sweet romantic comment about taking the other's heart in their hands and keeping it warm... and then pauses and makes a quip about if one took that literally it would be incredibly creepy.

So even the show had the occasional "dude, that's creepy" reactions. Usually played for comedy, but they were still there.
