Yes, end it, even if it's not a perfect ending.

Anecdote: I read a fanfic once that was a HP/Highlander crossover that stopped partway in, and was wound up by a simple synopsis of the basic plot the author intended. I appreciated at least having the synopsis and being ledt with no ending at all.

So end if the OP finishes their WIP with an Author's Note with a basic outline of the ending they intended included, then at least the story is wound up and no longer hanging.
