I don't know why people think this is a valid excuse for poor writing choices.

The point is, it's a consistent writing choice. Winchester allies, male or female, almost always die in the service of the greater good. It's not a matter of horrible misogyny, it's just the nature of the game.

Except there are many fewer female characters. So while a similar number of male and female characters die (actually, likely more male than female, but I'm not going through and counting), the percentage of females who die is higher. I will say that they have gotten better at the disparity, though. Earlier seasons were definitely much more female death, but they then added much more male character death. (Like one angel who is female, yet she is the first to die.) The misogyny is about so much more than just the female characters dying, though.
