Red velvet anything (cake, cookies, cupcakes, etc.) is gross. YOU ARE JUST PAYING MORE REGULAR CHOCOLATE WITH CHEMICAL FOOD COLORING.

I don't like red velvet either. (It's pretty, but I don't like the taste.)

TBH, it's not even as good as regular chocolate because you have to use less cocoa powder in order for the red dye to show up. So people are going nuts over weak ass chocolate cake loaded with artificial coloring.

I miss when red velvet cake got its color not from a dye but from a chemical reaction between buttermilk and cocoa.

Agreed. It's just sickly sweet and doesn't even taste vaguely chocolaty.
