Ehhh I feel like as soon as you start saying that otherkin are as legitimate as transgender people, then you open the door for transracial crap and other things.

If you accept race as a thing (which I don't), then "transracial" would have to be a thing that exists. A system that enforces "race" as a thing people have and doesn't allow them to escape the rules and expectations of one random race would be dangerous.

I don't think your model of race, and what accepting race as a construct entails, is accurate / true / useful.

I dunno. I've encountered people who take comfort in blackness, who frame it as something that makes them strong, and I assume other people do the same for other races. But when I think about social systems, my concern is for the people they hurt, not the people they benefit.

People are hurt by racism, not by being black. And to the extent that it's racism that's harmful, racism is a system that assigns race externally anyway.

I'm not sure where you're coming from. To me, bigotry is what happens when you say "Group X has Y trait" and person A in group X does not have Y trait. The nature of the pain differs, but it will result whether Y is good or bad, and whether the person making the statement is a member of group X or not. (If outsiders were the only source of bigotry, we wouldn't have insults like "oreo" or "banana.")

You could say this is straying from otherkin, but I don't think it is. Under most circumstances, I don't see it as my job to tell people "you have to be black," or "you have to be human." There are points when you can say they're wrong (Ted Haggard is not heterosexual), but I think the degree to which that argument should be made is proportional to how much harm they're actually doing.
