Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Tell that to my anxiety. Maybe it will listen to someone else.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's not your anxiety that won't listen; it's your amour-propre.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
or you're just a narrow minded asshole who can't understand anything you think is dumb.

Some people are self-conscious and worry that people may judge them. Maybe they have encountered people who judge them and laugh at things they do.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I understand just fine; I just don't agree with you.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well nobody needs you coming up going "oh you're worried about this because you're full of yourself"

You're opinion is unwanted.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Evidently, but in that case, I don't think you have any room to call other people narrow-minded.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
The point is you're being a dick.

Also you sure are one to talk about being self important when you think your opinion of OP's fears is so necessary. Is it accomplishing anything?

No.

Is it going to help anyone?

Not really.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, clearly you don't want to hear it, but who are you to decide that it can't accomplish anything or help anyone? Or do you magically know what everyone with anxiety thinks?

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
You absolute fucktard. It doesn't take magic to figure out that telling someone that "oh it's not really your anxiety its your ego" is actually helpful and will accomplish anything.

Pull your head out of your ass.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see an argument here: just you stomping your foot while sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling NO NO NO NO!

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
lol that's funny because what I see is some shitty little brat throwing a screaming tantrum because someone told him he was behaving badly and being rotten.

That's what a bunch of people are trying to tell you here. That you're being a jerk.

You're the one shoving your fingers in your ears and lashing out at everyone and telling them you're right.

Re: Lies you tell yourself...

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, no: I'm not the one throwing insults like "dick" and "fucktard" around. I'm not calling anyone a shitty little brat and telling them they're delusional or being rotten. I'm offering an alternative perspective, and rather mildly at that.

Also, lol at ~bunch of people. You're pretty transparent here.

"it isn't helpful to tell someone their anxieties are egotistical"

"I don't see an argument."

Are you stupid or just incredibly full of yourself?

+1

Looks like you struck a nerve, anon.

Meh, it actually helped me. Realizing that was a huge step in learning to manage my social anxiety.

I think they went about it wrong and different things work for different people. But I can see what they're saying.

Fuck off you smug pseudo-intellectual.

Fuck off yourself, misery maven.

Angry anon here

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I apologize.

A good while away from the computer has given me time to realize what an absolute and total asshole I was being.

I am not the OP but I've had similar problems/feelings and I took offense, and in the heat of anger, acted like a complete and utter idiot and said a bunch of things.

I really should have stepped away from the computer at that point. Anger makes you stupid I guess.

I disagree on whether the comment was helpful, but hey agree to disagree.

So ....I apologize.

Re: Angry anon here

(Anonymous) 2015-11-05 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's easy to get catch in the moment and say things you don't mean.

But take more to apologize, especially when you're anon and you won't save face if you do.

So yeah, apology accepted.

Just remember to take a break when you're starting to get heated, cause everyone says things they'll regret when they're super ticked.

IDK if you will see this, but I am the anon you replied to. What I posted has actually been useful to me in my struggles with anxiety, but I certainly expressed in a thoughtlessly dogmatic, unkind way here. I'm sorry to have distressed you.
