"The 'sceptics'"? I don't think I can tell what this secret is about. Anyone cares to enlighten me?

Probably people who think their marriage is a sham because they are just marrying because she got pregnant.

???? this is a thing?? Why?? Jesus Christ. I am suddenly glad I'm not up to date with the Sherlock fandom.

Skeptic deny they got married and had a baby. They believe when the family is seen in public they carry a doll around, because there is no actual child. They stalk. They published her 'real' home address to the internet the other week as proof they don't actually live together. Except it was the address for her business.

These are lunatics and should not be encouraged for laughs.

What the... what. I don't think I've ever seen this level of tinhattery before. Even the Larry shippers aren't this bad.

#the more you know, I guess.

Oh, my sweet summer child. Please do not google this. Stay innocent.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to see her on the show too, but I'm not understanding what you mean by 'the skeptics'. Skeptical about what?

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That they married for love. That they married at all.

I did not know his wife is so pretty! I would totally love to see her on the show, especially since the cameos by the casts' families have imo been done pretty well so far!

I don't watch the show but this would make me laugh. Sure, I want her on.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
If the skeptics in this fandom are anything like the tinhatters in Supernatural fandom, it's probably better for the poor woman if she stays the hell away from the show. No one deserves death threats for being in a relationship with someone who's been fixated on by fandom psychopaths.

[personal profile] dreemyweird 2015-11-08 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. Both Amanda Abbington and Louise Brealey already got their share of death threats.

Yeah, to be quite honest when I read the conspiracy theories I was genuinely worried for her safety. (And Cumberbatch's.) They're absolutely delusional and very devoted to the idea that she is manipulating and damaging him.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally random aside: She's really cute. And kinda hot.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-10 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. What beautiful eyes!

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. It'd be entertaining, but I don't think the showrunners are THAT dumb.

I would be all for having her on, but it might be less stressful for her if she keeps away from the show. I wouldn't blame her for not wanting anything to do with it.

Also: she's cute.

OP

Since making this secret I've changed my mind for the reasons many stated above: it's all more bonkers that I originally thought, and she's better off staying away in safety.

Sceptics latest theory? That "The Abominable Bride" (the Sherlock Christmas special) is a title deliberately chosen to throw shade at Sophie.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-09 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
In truth, I would hate if she were on the show. But only because I hate that kind of, IMO, lazy as fuck casting. I hated that Amanda Abbington was cast to play John's wife, and I hated that Benedict's parents were cast to play Sherlock's parents, and I hated that Moffat's son was cast to play young Sherlock. Ugh at all of it.

For me it just breaks the fourth wall in the worst way, and it signals that the creators are probably too lazy and self-congratulatory to accurately weigh and judge the narrative decisions they're making.

For the record, there was a tiny little corner in the back of my mind where I liked to imagine BC and Martin Freeman had ~feelings~ for each other. But holy shit, the Sophie Hunter tinhats are such an awful kind of crazy. (Though, for the record, the vast majority of the Sherlock fandom things the Sophie haters are awful and crazy.)

"... and it signals that the creators are probably too lazy and self-congratulatory to accurately weigh and judge the narrative decisions they're making."

Frankly, I already knew this was true by the way the show is written with little regard for plot or for making decent use out of canon characters, but I agree with your point.

It could happen. The casting on Sherlock's such a circle jerk at this point, why not?

Their child must have lovely eyes given what the parents look like.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-10 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
She's too pretty for Benedict imo.
