Actually, looking at the reviews I bet it was probably quite a bit higher before the 3D re-release. Because at least 20 of the bad reviews are just complaining about the 3D or money grabbing George Lucas.

Also, Star Trek and Star Wars are very differnet. For one, they came out in different movie cultures. In 1999 the idea of a reboot like this was weird. Today it is pretty normal. Also, action packed remakes are more normal these days.

And the Star Trek show vs movies are pretty different audiences.
