Oh no! People who like a show think it's a good show! Damn them!

This must be the week where anons get pissy about people who dare to express even a mildly unfavorable opinion about a popular show.

Or any show. I think CSI is shit, but I don't go out of my way to call out people who like it for telling me they like it.

I'd imagine it's less that OP doesn't think favorably of Doctor Who, and more that OP's acting like it's remotely unusual that the fandom for the show tends to be overly enthusiastic about it. That's what fandoms do, it's what differentiates fandom as an entity from the general population of casual viewers. Chances are OP participates in that in their own fandoms, and is only bothered by it in Who fandom because they're not personally into it.

Maybe. But there are plenty of people who are enthusiastic about their fandoms without acting like it's impossible for anyone to dislike the fandom in question, which is what OP was taking exception to. Being turned off by that level of enthusiasm seems reasonable to me.

It's not unusual for fandom to be overly enthusiastic about a show but that doesn't make it less annoying when you don't feel the same way and have to put up with gushing fans who don't understand how you could think differently.
