In general...

Am I the only one who remembers the slight SJWdom of LJ in general - not just the comms, but individual accounts? In fact, I qualified.

However, it seems to me that it was less about trolling and more honest-to-goodness activism. My fandom held fundraisers when natural disasters occurred. We raised money for literacy. Yes, you sometimes got people being over the top - I did and said some stupid, stupid things. But I always felt like the spirit was more well-meant, I guess? We sometimes got into arguments, but it was never to the levels it gets to on tumblr, with a few exceptions.

I think if anything, that's where tumblr got it from, except they took it all those extra levels when things already tended to go too far.

That's true, and those good things (SJ rather than SJW) are still going on. But after Racefail in 2009, there was a definite upswing in full-on SJW on LJ, which got a lot stronger on tumblr.

AYRT - Oh god, racefail. I never actually understood what happened there, but you're right, that's about where it all started - on LJ, at least.
