I don't think I've come across a lot of fanfic where people get turned into animals. Mostly it makes me think of a dream I had where I turned into an animal and got found and taken in by a girl I had a crush on and got jealous watching some other girl flirt with her.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-09 12:58 am (UTC)(link)I get the speech patterns, but if the actual voices were changed, that would be weird. I mean, if I've swapped bodies, I've got their vocal cords too.
As for the people getting turned into animals, I've seen a very few fanfics where that happens, but I think it's a bit difficult to write since the animals can't talk. Buffy did get turned into a rat in season 2 BTVS, though.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-09 03:58 am (UTC)(link)The problem is, bodyswapping is confusing. I am actually part way through writing a bodyswapping fic, and while I am enjoying writing it, I do second-guess the way I should be labelling the characters. Obviously, Bob thinks of himself as Bob, even when he's in Dave's body, and vice-versa. But when dealing with OTHER characters perceptions, it can get a bit confusing. As in, "Sarah saw Bob-who-is-really-Dave walk down the hallway."
But, back to the main point - I do love it when there's a live-action body swap episode, and you get to see the actors mimicking the other actors' mannerisms.
