In media, body swapping.

In fanfic, people being turned into an animal for a week or so.

YES BODYSWAP. Especially in live-action media. The bodyswap episode of any sci-fi show is, as far as I'm concerned, the one where you really find out which cast members are the breakout stars.

I love body swapping too but it's a giant pet peeve of mine when the voices don't change along with the bodies.

I don't think I've come across a lot of fanfic where people get turned into animals. Mostly it makes me think of a dream I had where I turned into an animal and got found and taken in by a girl I had a crush on and got jealous watching some other girl flirt with her.

nayrt, but what do you mean "when the voices don't change along with the bodies"? Do you mean speech patterns or the actual voices?

I get the speech patterns, but if the actual voices were changed, that would be weird. I mean, if I've swapped bodies, I've got their vocal cords too.

As for the people getting turned into animals, I've seen a very few fanfics where that happens, but I think it's a bit difficult to write since the animals can't talk. Buffy did get turned into a rat in season 2 BTVS, though.

The actual voices. Yes, exactly, it's weird. But I think especially with things aimed at younger audiences they get nervous about people keeping up with the story or something. I can't think of any other reason they would do that.

Oh, I think I misunderstood you. I thought that you were saying you wanted the bodyswapped person to have their non-bodyswapped voice. Now I think you're saying that you don't like that? Gah, it's even confusing to type!

The problem is, bodyswapping is confusing. I am actually part way through writing a bodyswapping fic, and while I am enjoying writing it, I do second-guess the way I should be labelling the characters. Obviously, Bob thinks of himself as Bob, even when he's in Dave's body, and vice-versa. But when dealing with OTHER characters perceptions, it can get a bit confusing. As in, "Sarah saw Bob-who-is-really-Dave walk down the hallway."

But, back to the main point - I do love it when there's a live-action body swap episode, and you get to see the actors mimicking the other actors' mannerisms.

Love body swapping! I always enjoy bodyswap eps in cartoons
