Ah yes, I remember that all too well. It was my first taste of "Tumblr culture" before I even started really looking at Tumblr.

I also remember being downright baffled about how long it took them to change the icon. The old one used the oh-so-horrifyingly-offensive word (by their standards) "bitch" and showed violence towards (intentionally badly drawn stick figure) Mary Sues, so it was just downright surreal to see people, um, bitch about stuff that was no more "offensive" than the icon for the very community they were posting to. It made way too much sense that they'd replace it with something as wholesomely inoffensive as a cat macro.
