where are you getting "stressed and confused" from? He doesn't seem confused at all to me: he just wants the benefits of being in a relationship without the permanence of marriage, and he wants their friends who are getting married to stop giving his girlfriend ideas. Where's the confusion?

The part where he said that he's not ready yet but does want to marry his gf down the line. Like, he's not ready right now, doesn't know when he will be, and feels pressure because everyone is getting married right now? That's... stressful. He doesn't know the fine details of his "someday future" plans.

To me that reads confusion and stressed.

And like, even if what you say is true and that's what he wants then he should still be open about it with his gf. Communication is still the solution. I mean, by letting her know all his thoughts and feelings on the matter she can share her own and they can come to a mutual understanding to either continue the relationship or not.

I mean, isn't that how responsible and good relationships are supposed to work? (And I don't say this in a mean way. I don't do relationships so I'm honestly a bit confused now myself.)

OK, that's one way to read it. I just got the vibe that he doesn't want to do a lot of thinking about his "someday future" plans because that's difficult, and he doesn't want to commit right now because commitment is difficult, and he wants everything made easy for him. And you're right, he definitely ought to have that talk with his girlfriend, because communication is important, but apparently instead of doing that, he's just resenting mutual friends who are taking the big step of getting married. Because communication is also difficult, and it's not risk-free, because the girlfriend might just decide that she can't wait indefinitely for him to get his shit together.

Ahaha, true but no one said his first reaction was the smartest. Hopefully- maybe- with this thread he better process his own emotions and can turn the energy he has from being frustrated towards being communicative with his girlfriend.

Or maybe I'll eat more m&ms. I dunno.
