However, you can appreciate a romance and not feel that it's the ONLY romance! I like a good many of BioWare's romances, and the only reason I don't do all of them is simply because it would take too much time. (And I would probably get bored of replaying the game by that point. Look at how many romances are in Inquisition...while I have Inquisitors for every romance but Sera, there are several I probably won't complete.)
I haven't even reached the halfway point with my Solas!romance playthrough, but I've watched the cutscenes and liked them; I think it's a solid romance, albeit not a happy one. (I feel that way about Anders in DA2 as well though, so...)
And I'll readily admit that I love Alistair more than basically all other video game romances, but it isn't like he's the only decent romance in Origins. (Zevran's was REALLY good, and Leliana's was cute.)
Where is the hate coming from, though? When I go on reddit or BSN the guys are usually talking about their own romances. It isn't like the female fans are the only ones who enjoy that aspect of the games.
