US politics have become more divisive in the past twenty years and democrats strawmanning republicans as uneducated backwards hicks sure ain't helping.

(I'm a liberal btw)

Thank you! (Also a liberal.) Although while I think ten years ago that was the stereotype, now it seems the stereotype is that they're all rich Old Money who never had to work for anything. Most of the Republicans I know don't fit that description. Mitt Romney does, but they're not Mitt Romney.

IA. It's really fucking childish.

Especially when people get into "they need to die" territory then its scary.

Did you see the debates though. Maybe they're not hicks but Republicans are fucking stupid.

The current GOP is much more radical than it has been in previous years. It's not very representative of moderate republicans.

So who is?

Re: Controversial Opinions

Moderate Republicans are sure as hell still willing to vote for the motherfuckers, though.

Uh, except that this is a problem the Republicans cultivated by their "aw shucks just one of the common folk" approach that also involved heavy handed appeals to the religious right and a genera pooh-poohing of science. The Democrats didn't do that to them, it's a strategy Republicans purposefully adopted that worked really, really well for them up until the Tea Party.
