The fact that Eli Wiesel survived the Holocaust does not necessarily make him a role model. Especially after praising and supporting Paul Kagame.

I agree in general that people who survive traumatic and terrible events aren't by default heroes or role models. I mean, it's one thing to admire the strength it must take to endure that, and come out of it and recover enough to lead a semi-normal life. But hero? Not unless they did something heroic.

That was actually kind of Dr. Doom's whole deal. Every time he takes over the world in the comics? It's a utopia. He's an evil egotistical madman but that same egotism drives him to make things so objectively good you have to give him credit.

Isn't there an argument that the best form of government, which would probably bring most happiness to most people, a benevolent dictatorship? The problem is finding said benevolent dictator...
