Okay but how do you suppose fans get to that point?

I ask this as an artist who drew very deformed art at the beginning, but posting it got me encouragement, which pushed me to try harder. But more than anything, I drew because I wanted to and I want fanart myself.

Seriously, people don't art for you. If you don't like it, go do some other fannish thing.

I agree that most fanart is bad, as I see a lot come through my messages box on Deviant Art. I have nothing to say about TPTB who may encourage it.
