I've seen people suggesting that that the show should end to punish them. I cannot see how that would work or accomplish anything other than vengeance and "blood for the blood god" I mean think about it logically.

Ending the show and saying it's because of them is not likely to convince a lot of them. They have rejected every other callout people, even those running the show have given them. Are they likely to be convinced they're at fault by the show ending?

No. They're going to blame someone else. Probably zamii herself and her supporters. These people are too high on the illusion of moral righteousness. They're probably going to blame everyone else for raising an issue of it. They're going to blame zamii for "taking representation away from children."

At this point they either unable or refusing to see they're at fault. They would then have to accept that they did something very bad. They don't WANT to accept responsibility for that.

Also zamii is also a big fan of the show, and she's in a shaky mental state right now. Do you think finding that a show she loved ended because of what happened to her is going to help her?

Also it's going to punish the target audience, children for something they understand nothing of.

So all it would accomplish likely is making everyone miserable and maybe even MORE bullying to those who the hatemob decides to blame.

Also this whole "punishment" thing, especially since the majority of the fans have absolutely nothing to do with the drama, would kinda totally go against the values the show is trying to get across.

Aren't most of the watchers like... kids... anyway? I mean the older online fandom is more apparent on the Internet, but it's a popular cartoon on CN? So it'd mostly be kids disappointed that a show they liked got suddenly cancelled.

They've not just rejected the criticisms from the Crewniverse, they've turned on them for it - accusing Rebecca Sugar of being a pedophile, etc.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Lol I've seen them accuse one of the storyboard artists of being homophobic for having the audacity to say cyberbullying and sending threats over diffrent opinions isn't cool.
The nerve.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
oh yes, for the show that has like 100 lesbians on it. homophobic.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, for fuck's sake, really? *Facepalm* Some people need to crack open a dictionary or twelve, seriously.

Just when I think I can't be any further appalled by this whole mess... I mean, I know the internet can be a real shithole at times, but still.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Unbelievable, smh

That makes me even more convinced that it's not so much out of being conscience-less. It's that they don't want to accept that they weren't just not morally right, but guilty of doing something horrible.

It's a painful thing to accept, but the more you resist it and fight it, the worse you make things for yourself. They're just making their litany of wrong longer when they do have to accept it.

Someone also called out Rebecca Sugar for "being silent" about the incident... like a day after it happened. How dare she not babysit her show's fandom.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I also saw people being angry at some of the crew members saying stuff about the situation, because apparently it was unprofessional to not remain silent.

Can't win.

My fave was the one where some fans were accusing the creators of SU of being in favor of taking representation away from media.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have a link to source on that? Obviously this is one area where I want to be careful about believing hearsay.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Also, holy fucking shit I hate people.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have the link at hand but it was about Rebeca Sugar's old slash drawings of Ed and DoubleD, I think? It was Ed, Edd and Eddie slash, it was graphic, and it was fanart. I remember that much.

Didn't she also draw it when she was like sixteen? Who cares.

Why does the age even matter? even she still drew slash of them, she would most likely be aging them up (i would hope), so even then, that wouldn't even matter.

I agree. But the fact that she was only sixteen makes it even sillier that people threw a fit, imo.

I finally saw the art in question...if people are saying that is hardcore porn...

That is the tamest damn shit I have ever seen. You don't even see peen. And tbh? Even if the characters are supposed to be 12 in the show....I vaguely remember thinking they didn't seem 12. More like older teens, like 16/17, so...Hell, I never knew they were SUPPOSED to be 12 in the show

(Anonymous) 2015-11-13 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
If the show is cancelled, it's not going to be because of anything the internet fandom does. Cancellation just doesn't work that way. But yeah, I know Tumblr/the internet in general will never understand that.

And you're right about taking the show away from Zamii and people like her. People keep saying they don't know how a show that's all about love and acceptance got such horrible fans, but I think that's why it has such horrible fans. Miserable people cling to positive shows to help them try to be happier. Miserable people when they're at their worst take their misery out by acting like Zamii's bullies. It's correlation but not causation. The worst fans would still be as bad if the show wasn't there, they'd just find a different place to put their threats. And the rest of us would still just be miserable but with one less positive show to help us.

I think an episode addressing it would be nice...
