I could go either way-- in theory, I LOVE humanizations, but... so many of them are same-y and uninteresting to me, or seem to miss a huge part of the non-human character, fail to translate who they are. And I know a lot of fanartists are very young and haven't yet developed either the skills to draw a wider variety of body types and facial features, or the 'creativity muscles' to branch out, and it becomes an anime prettyboy echo chamber, and it's not because the artists are BAD, it's because they haven't stretched their wings yet, they aren't thinking as critically/creatively about character design as they could, and they might not have any background in character design or anatomy etc., so...

Like, I groan and roll my eyes and say I don't want to see one more hot skinny white dude in place of a non-humanoid character, but I think I just need to try to hope that a lot of these kids are going to get better with time, and there are artists who've done fantastic and creative things.

(humanizations of already-really-humanoid characters I don't get, though, unless it's a specific AU. It's one thing to draw a human version of a car or whatever, but seems like there's less point to drawing a human version of a human-shaped alien unless it's like Deep Dish Nine or something?)
