I've lived in a few big cities in my life, including Tokyo and London, which have had and are probably targets for potential terrorist activity. but I'm from a tiny American town in the midwest, which is where I am right now, and it does give me a lot of comfort to know that this is a "safe" place. My home is almost definitely always going to be safe. Terrorism is so fucking scary. On the flip side, we have so much gun violence in the US that I suppose one has to bear in mind that violence and massacres are happening all the time. I don't mean that in a "always be afraid" way, but the thought gives me some perspective on these things, too.
