Maybe you can add something to the seat, like a padded seat cover or something that might help reduce the pain? Years ago, my mom hurt her back or something and had this little inflatable "doughnut" to sit on, including while driving. I don't know the nature of your pain and am not a doctor anyway, but see if there's some way to temporarily augment the seat to make it bearable.
