(Anonymous) 2015-11-15 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)It is kind of funny how much more interesting the secondary characters are than the main characters - Walter, Laura and Glyde are all sort of dippy and cliched, and then you have these other characters who are just hanging around to help them who are actually fantastic and bizarre and much more interesting.

I don't hate Laura, for the record. I recognize she was shaped by the time and the circumstances she lived in. I just hate that the narrative itself basically adores her specifically for having very little thoughts in her pretty little head and very little mettle in her pretty little life.
