Vikings, Teen Wolf

A lot of implied things in Vikings needs to be shown. I can't remember every instance because there's a ton, but that show time-skips quite a bit, and a lot of important character or relationship bits are just brushed to the side and forgotten.

I remember thinking it was bullshit that Lagertha's miscarriage (and Ragnar and Lagertha growing apart after) was barely brought up again after the point, and that Ragnar and Athelstan never had a conversation about the fact that Ragnar was ready to sacrifice Athelstan to his gods, lol.

Teen Wolf was also notoriously bad for leaving stuff out too, but the one thing that stands out atm is the whole 'Allison is seeing hallucinations' thing; IIRC it was never really expanded upon.

Vikings has so much to explain. Or not a lot? I always remember thinking when the hell did Bjorn grow up and where the hell was Lagertha?

Also, I'm sure some kind of shit went down between Athelstan and Ragnar at some point (Ragnar was in love with him, I'm sure it had to be discussed at least once, especially once Athelstan turned Heathen, but I feel like Ragnar was far more intrigued with him during his time as monk).

Side note: I loved Siggy in her final season. Should have been more, and more fucking explanation about her death/the god who came a knockin'--boots, hehe. He seriously creeped me out.

Vikings is one of the few shows that regularly time-skips years ahead while giving you very little information on what happened in the space between. I don't have a problem with time-skips in itself...sometimes they work, but you have to be careful about them or you risk alienating your audience; if you're always dropping plot-lines people are going to be frustrated. It starts to feel like you don't care about your own characters when you don't touch on subjects that could provide a lot of growth and character development. Just...allow us to further understand the characters, Vikings.

You know, in that last scene they had together when Ragnar told Athelstan he loved him, Athelstan seemed a bit shocked. Now obviously by that point Athelstan knew; Ragnar wasn't in the least bit subtle with his feelings, and he approached Athelstan about sex several times, and had several conversations that very much hinted at romantic feelings, but I think that Athelstan was just surprised to hear it in those exact words; Ragnar had made his love known before, but he had never said it so outright. I def think there were more moments like that we didn't see, because it appeared to be a regular thing with them; Ragnar approaches Athelstan, Athelstan shies away, lol.

I was so very disappointed in Siggy's death! IA, she should've had more screentime since it was her final season, but also just because she was a really good character with a great actress. I thought her death seemed REALLY abrupt; they should've given it a bit more lead-in.

Yay anon, I'm glad you're still around! (And to find someone who likes both LOTS and Vikings. There aren't many of us here on f!s, as far as I know.)

I completely agree about Vikings. I enjoy the show but the way it just brushes over events and the huge time skips keep me from really loving it.

I don't think I'll stop watching as long as Lagertha is still around, but I have a lot of problems with it. Sometimes it feels like the show doesn't care about its own characters because TPTB rob them of so much potential character development by completely glossing over important issues that could provide a lot of insight.

I think they want to tell an epic tale, and sometimes forget that to make people care about the events that are going on, you have to make us feel close to the cast; small character moments are just as important as large moving pieces of the puzzle.
