i think it's also because it's a comedy, and nobody really dies or suffers. tumblr can't live without the angst and drama~

Not many comedies have fandoms on Tumblr or outside.

This! Comedies rarely develope large fandom communities. And maybe Peter Serafinowicz character was off-putting to some? Other than that I got nothing I felt he was the only problematic part to this movie.

He was supposed to be problematic. We laugh at him because he's terrible (though I was suprised he wasn't the one in the bed at the end.) I know people think such characters are contributing to rape culture and I can see how they might be right, but the humor comes from how awful he is and how we know he shouldn't act like that. And even at that, no one is in danger from him. He's a pest, not a threat, and we laugh because we're outside the situation where we're even safer.

TL;DR don't take it so seriously or personally.
